Orange Supermarket has launched the first mobile phone electronic top up service provided by Red Dot Network on 22th January in Yangon. This is a pioneering system away from the old cum- bersome scratch card top up process.
All branches of Orange Supermarket across Yangon now offer electronic top up, allowing users of Ooredoo, Telenor, MPT and MEC to easily top up on mobile phone credit using a pin number printed on a receipt at the store checkout.
Merchandising Director of Orange Super- markets, Pyae Phyo Latt said that by using electronic top up, not only advance cus- tomer service of Myanmar retailer sector through technology but also vastly improves the efficiency of Orange’s day to day store operations. They no longer have to juggle multiple denominations of top up cards, and the stock is now unlimited.
He also added. “By becoming early adopters of this technology, we are delighted to be able to offer our customers this exciting new top up experience before it is available at any other retail chain in the country”.
“We are thrilled to partner with Orange as they drive retailer adoption of electronic top up in Myanmar. As we expand our op- erations, we aim to position Red Dot as the foremost provider of electronic top up and payment solutions in the country. We invite retailers of all sizes to join us as we work to revolutionize the sale of top up in Myanmar” said Red Dot Network’s Chief Marketing Of- ficer Andy Whelan.
In the way of using electronic top up, cus- tomer has to buy desired top up card from the sale display (e.g Telenor K5,000) and brings the card to the check out along with the rest of the shopping. Then, the card is scanned and two receipts are printed, one for the shopping and one containing top up instructions and a pin code. The customer then tops up by following the instructions, and using the pin code printed on the re- ceipt.
At present, five thousands and ten thou- sands kyats top up denominations of MPT (GSM), Telenor, Ooredoo and MEC and 16,000 and 36,000 kyats of Red Link Inter- net can be available through electronic top up system. Additionally, one thousand and three thousand kyats top up card of Telenor, Ooredoo and MPT, including twenty thou- sands top up card will soon be accessible.
Myanmar based provider of electronic pay ment solutions, Red Dot Network, not only developed the technology powering Or- ange’s new electronic top up system, but also oversaw store installations of the new service and provided full training to Orange Supermarket staff.
