The Government Confirmed Minimum Wage as K3, 600

According to the release of the National Committee on 28th August, the government confirmed 3,600 kyats (US$ 2.80) as the minimum wage for a standard eight-hour work day across all sectors and industries. But minimum wage will not take consideration to small scale enterprises and family-run businesses with less than 15 workers. This approved minimum wage will be valid starting from September 1, 2015. To approve 3,600 kyats as minimum wages, the committee held serval round of negotiations with the Government, labor organizations, employees and employers and also took the result from a survey of 22,032 households in 108 townships across the country which is mainly focused on average living cost of individual low-income workers.
