The organizers of TEDxYangon had announced the third edition of the event which will be held on October 6 at The Strand Hotel Ballroom. TEDxYangon has been held annually since 2016 and this year’s event theme of “Today’s Future”, focuses on action – what people and organizations are doing today to impact the future. TEDxYangon will give a positive platform to more than 20 speakers who will share their ideas to benefit the community and society, and to open minds and thinking about the future of Myanmar.
TEDx events are held in communities all over the world to bring people together to share ideas. The 2017 TEDxYangon event featured participation from 18 speakers, 40 volunteers and 19 sponsors. In addition, more than 143,000 people in Myanmar and across the world viewed the live stream of the event on Facebook while video views of the talks on YouTube has reached more than 65,000.
Thiri Thant Mon, Lead Organizer of TEDxYangon said, “We are very excited to be hosting our third annual event and to see the TEDxYangon community grow from year to year. We had over 300 applications this year for speakers and our team has worked hard to select over 20 ideas that we believe represent a diverse range of voices and expertise from our Yangon community and beyond. We have grown from our first event of about 300 attendees to 800 this year and we try very hard to give the audience a great experience on the day. We hope to welcome back our attendees from previous years and also meet new attendees.”
Members of the public who wish to attend TEDxYangon can purchase a ticket from August 24 till October 2. The early bird price of $55 till September 2 and regular price of $75 from September 3 to October 2. The event is the full day event which is from 8am to 8pm. The event will also be streamed live on Facebook and talk videos will be freely available after the event on the TEDx YouTube channel.
