SCG Commits to ‘Grow Together’ at SCG Build with Pride 2015

SCG, ASEAN’s leading business conglomerate, hosted its annual SCG Build with Pride event in the new Hotel Novotel Yangon Max on 19th March. The aim is to thank valued partners and cus- tomers and demonstrate their commitment to ‘Grow Together’.

SCG is leading cement and building material brand in Myanmar, with a variety of premium quality products that provide solutions to all types of housing and building construction.

Held over two days in Yangon, SCG showed their appreciation to partners and customers, and voiced a strong commitment to work together to enhance Myanmar’s prosperity, with a memorable party, product in- spired games and live music performances. “This year’s theme of ‘Grow Together’ not only applies to our partners and customers, but underpins our commitment to develop alongside the country of Myanmar and enhance the quality of life for the people through better housing solutions. Through the event, we hope to show our deepest appreciation for our business associates who have accepted SCG as a trusted partner,” said Mr. Chana Poomee, Country Director of SCG in Myanmar.

At the event, SCG announced plans to open the first SCG Showroom in Yangon located on 10 Miles Road in coming May. The show- room will benefit partners and dealers by strengthening their knowledge of SCG prod- ucts, and also architects, developers and home owners, who will be able to explore a greater variety of building materials. Country Director of SCG, Mr. Chana Poomee said “Our business in Myanmar was a strong contributor to our sound financial performance in 2014. We are creating jobs, en- gaging local suppliers and giving back to the community. As we expand across the region, we look to be a sustainable business leader in ASEAN, and place responsible investment at the core of our priorities. We look forward to having our clean & green cement plant in Mawlamyine operational in 2016 and we are committed to the economic, social and environmental development of Myanmar through our CSR initiatives”.

SCG is developing a training program which educates dealers on product use and con- struction technology and SCG Authorized Dealers will receive new SCG product booths in the coming months.

SCG comprises three core businesses: SCG Cement-Building Materials, SCG Chemi- cals, and SCG Paper. Under SCG’s umbrella, there are more than 200 companies and more than 51,000 employees. SCG has be- gun its regional expansion to Myanmar for over 20 years.
