The Myanmar Car of the Year (MCOTY) is an international inspired award, judged by a panel of motoring journalists. Its objective is to acclaim the most outstanding cars available in the Myanmar market. With 300 guests at the awards event and 16 brands participating, the first MCOTY 2017 event was a great success that saw winners such as Toyota Hilux, Volvo XC90 and many more celebrate their awards during the evening.
In the event, Heineken will serve as Gold Sponsor and Exclusive Beer Brand and is bringing in their “When you Drink, Never Drive” campaign. Together with partners such as Luther Law Firm, acting as auditor to ensure voting and jury work is supervised and done correctly, Centurion Auto, that supports the test drives with its experiences in advance driver training, and Automotive Association of Myanmar (AAM) who supports with their industry knowledge. The award ceremony will be held on November 2 at Rose Garden Hotel. There are fifteen award categories this year, out of which, fourteen categories will be judged by our esteemed panel of jury members. The Jury, consisting of Myanmar motor journalists and various neighboring countries motor journalists, will ensure the voting is fair.
The award categories are Hatchback, Compact Sedan, Midsize Sedan, Prestige Sedan, MPV, Crossover, Compact SUV, Mid-Size SUV, Prestige Compact SUV, Prestige SUV, Pick Up, Luxury Car, Budget Car, Car Of the Year (Jury’s Choice), Car Of The Year (People’s Choice). The car models will be evaluated through test drives and inspections to take into account handling, comfort, look & feel as well as local factors such as maintenance, price and insurance. The top 3 of the categories will be announced on October 26
MCOTY also has “People’s Choice Car of the Year Award”. This award will be open to the public for voting the best car of the year. The voting system will lure the whole country of Myanmar to make the event become bigger. The public voting will begin from September 25 till October 25.
Participating brands are Chevrolet, Ford, GAC, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Toyota and Volvo.
