Pride of Myanmar awards have been established in 2018 as the 1st wideranging awards platform for Myanmar to recognize and honor distinguished individuals and groups in their particular areas. With the aim to be an ongoing annual awards event, it was conceived and managed by Pastel Communications advertising and events’ agency.
Swe Zin Htike, Myanmar actress who is also co-chair of the Board of Governors for the award said, “This has been my dream for many years for Myanmar to have an awards platform that is wideranging and recognize the immense talent that Myanmar has in so many fields. So when I was approached to be Chairperson of this very ambitious but very impactful project I did not hesitate at all. These awards not only recognize the well-established names and popular personalities but also those who may be relatively unknown to the masses but are taking Myanmar onto the global stage. I am very excited about this initiative and I hope we can together build this into something very prestigious and impactful.”
Nominees and winners will be selected through a rigorous three-stage judging process overseen by Deloitte. There will be a first list of nominees in eight categories to recognize the best in Myanmar: Arts & Literature, Civic & Social, Business Innovation and Entertainment, Fashion, Sports, Life time achievement and social media influencer of the year. The Board of Governors will select the top four nominees in each category and the Jury will add 50% voting scores to the final four shortlisted to choose a final winner in each category and another 50% votes will be tabulated through open Public Voting online; website and micro-site on Facebook.
Pride of Myanmar awards aim to create a credible, non-partisan and transparent awards platform with a vision to become the biggest and most prestigious annual award event in Myanmar. Awards will see its inception in 2018 to recognize the excellence in various key fields. Winners will be awarded at a glittering evening gala around the beginning of the year 2019.
