Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Vietnam has reached over $360 million in five months of the sixmonth transitional period from April to September 2018, according to the figures from the Ministry of Commerce on October 27, 2018.
Myanmar has changed its fiscal year period from original April-March to OctSept beginning from 2018-2019 fiscal year, causing a six-month transitional gap.
From April to August 2018, the country’s export to Vietnam amounted to $119.8 million while its import amounted to $242.3 million. The total trade increased by $40.5 million compared with the same period of 2017-2018 fiscal year. Myanmar mainly exports mineral, agricultural, forest and marine products to Vietnam, and imports car spare parts, computer parts, construction materials, steel, plastics, pharmaceuticals and chemical products from Vietnam.
