The Strand Hotel, Myanmar’s historic and upscale landmark hotel, is currently closed while undergoing renovations. However, prior to its scheduled November reopening, The Strand’s top chef, Christian Martena, is hosting a four evening dinner cruise special to showcase new dishes expected to appear on the menu at the Strand Hotel this fall.
The Strand Cruise is currently docked at Botahtaung Jetty but will set sail June 24-25 and July 1-2 for the special event. Tickets are priced at $140 USD per person and includes wine pairing. The guestlist is limited to just 20 persons.
“We have been entrusted to uphold the quality of the fine dining experience that the Strand Hotel is renowned for and my hope is that we go beyond expectations to set a new benchmark for fine dining in Myanmar,” says Chef Christian about his vision for the dining restaurant at The Strand Yangon, “in order to achieve this, I want to explore an innovative cooking style, pushing the boundaries of conventional restaurants. Mediterranean cuisine is the foundation of my cooking, and the menu I have prepared for the ‘Strand Dinner on the Cruise’ will reflect this, offering a modern twist to the classic French and Italian dishes.” Strand recently expanded its presence in Myanmar with the launch of the Strand Cruise in January 2016. The cruise operates a schedule of three and four-night itineraries on the Ayeyarwaddy River between the Bagan and Mandalay.
