Over 500 Affordable Housing Units to be Allocated in Mandalay

The 560 units of Mya Yi Nandar housing complex built by the Department of Urban and Housing Development will be sold by drawing lots in January. From November 10 onward until the end December, interested persons can buy application forms and apply directly at the Department of Urban and Housing Development located at 66th street, Aung Myay Tharzan Township. The 560 units in 14 five-storey buildings on 7.67-acre site are aimed at lower or middle income households. Each unit has 567 square feet of floor area and has a living room, two bedrooms and a kitchen.

There are four colors codes or categories for the low-costing housing units, for which construction has began in March last year. The pink color is for lower-income people, yellow for company staff, green for civil servants and blue for retired civil servants. But there will not be specific quotas for any category. The applicants must earn at least 400,000 Kyats monthly and cannot sell their property during the first five years of ownership. Each applicant must have a recommendation letter from either Lower House representative or Regional Hluttaw representative. Successful applicants can buy the property through two options; four-month installment plan with a bank loan or a bank mortgage. Ground floor units will be sold for 22.3 million Kyats, first floor units for the 20.8 million Kyats, second floor units for 19.3 million Kyats, third floor units for 17.8 million and fourth floor units for 16.3 million Kyats each.
