Myanmar, Thailand to Promote Bilateral Trade

In the presence of Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and Thailand Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, high-ranking officials of the respective governments signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and one agreement in Nay Pyi Taw, according to the President’s Office.

Two MoUs on Fisheries Cooperation, the development of an emergency department at Dawei General Hospital and one agreement on money transfer services between the Myanmar Economic Bank and Krung Thai Bank of Thailand were signed shortly after Thai Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak arrived Nay Pyi Taw. Thai Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn, who is part of a trade mission to Myanmar, said that under their close strategic partnership, Thailand and Myanmar would double bilateral trade to $13 billion (457 billion Thai Baht) by the end of 2021.
