J anuary 25 – Myanmar has opened its first overseas trade center in Seoul, South Korea, in cooperation with Myanmar Inspection and Testing Services Korea Co Ltd (MITSK). Hosub In, Chief Executive Officer of MITSK organized and supervised the trade center. The primary purpose of center is not only to boost trade with South Korea but also share information between two countries.
There is in fact, a great potential to boost trade with South Korea. According to the Ministry of Commerce, the trade centre will distribute trading and other information relevant to Myanmar. Local exporters can exhibit their products at the centre. South Korean traders can now observe Myanmar produts directly. The centre will also provide consultancy service for export and import. The center can act as a bridge between local Myanmar entrepreneurs and foreign businessmen from South Korea.
Maung Maung Lay, vice president of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), said “Working together with foreign countries is really good for Myanmar. Local businessmen can learn new technologies and ways to operate their businesses while South Korean businessmen can know more about Myanmar”.
Myanmar Trade Centre in Seoul is the first trade centre of Myanmar abroad.
