Marga Landmark is bringing a world-class development and a luxurious lifestyle experience to the heart of Yangon with the development of Dagon City1. Designed and built to inter-national standards, this exclusive mixed-use development will include branded retail zones, international standard A-grade offic-es, a five-star hotel and exquisitely appoint-ed apartments.
The 22-acre complex will be located at U Htaung Bo Circle, just steps away from Shwedagon Pagoda, the Yangon Zoologi-cal Gardens, and Kandawgyi Lake. The de-velopment is the product of a joint venture between the global syndicate Marga Group, formed by influential shareholders and world-class professionals from around the world, and the reputable Myanmar company Thu Kha Yadanar.
“Over the years, our team and I have de-veloped projects around the globe, in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, China, the Mid-dle East, Southeast Asia and Australia. I per-sonally oversaw the development of the new Four Seasons Hotel in Shanghai and the Pa-vilion in Kuala Lumpur,” said Edgar Kwan, Marga Senior Executive Director and Chief Development Officer.
Marga Landmark’s team brings its glob-al real estate expertise to Myanmar with a solid track record of premium quality de-velopment projects. Dagon City 1 is jointly designed by lead architect Wong Tung& Partners, a World Top 100 architecture firm and SPiNE, a local Myanmar design leader. The project uses world-class professionals such as Meinhardt as its engineering con-sultant and Colliers as its property man-agement consultant. The team of experts plans to share its international experience in finance, construction, and real estate devel-opment with local professionals in the field.
“Dagon City 1 will be Yangon’s new symbol of international progress,” said Mr. Alex Lau, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Design of Wong Tung & Partners. “The de-velopment epitomizes international cosmo-politan living and modern mixed-use design. Dagon City 1 seeks to promote harmonious integration of modern global architecture with traditional local designs, to initiate sus-tainable urbanization through responsible international designs and practices, and to further economic acceleration for Yangon by creating a truly global commercial complex.”
Dagon City 1 is modeled after successful mixed-use developments like the Interna-tional Commercial Centre in Hong Kong and Roppongi Hills of Tokyo. The development comprises of 8-story residential towers with apartments in various styles ranging in size from 600 square feet to 2,000 square feet, as well as a selection of penthouses. The luxury clubhouse will be equipped with top facilities for recreation and entertainment, including a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, restaurant and indoor golf.
The complex will stand as a prime example of responsible and sustainable urbanization for Yangon, with heavy green elements such as energy saving features, sustainable build-ing materials, a large elevated sky garden, and a central green area designed to promote long-term, healthy neighborhood living for the city’s downtown area.
Dagon City 1 also marks the beginning of Marga Landmark’s long-term commitment to the future development of Yangon and Myanmar. The Marga team will demonstrate its commitment by investing in sustainable CSR initiatives and contributing to the coun-try’s economic acceleration.
“With our flagship project, we can continue to promote Myanmar abroad and help at-tract foreign capital.” The first phase of res-idential towers 1–4 will be launched in the fourth quarter of2014.
