New Zealand is offering up to 35 scholarships in the 2016 selection round for those seeking to study in areas that contribute to the development of Myanmar. The priority areas for the 2016 selection round include Agriculture Development, Private Sector Development including Tourism, Renewable Energy, Disaster Risk Management, Public Sector Management and English Language Teaching. Awards are offered for Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s and PhD level of studies. As part of New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship, candidate may be eligible to undertake English Language Training in Myanmar for up to one year prior to taking up the study in New Zealand.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the New Zealand Embassy to Myanmar, Stephen Wong, officially announced the opening of the New Zealand-ASEAN Scholars Awards 2016 (NZAS) on February 1. “The scholarships aim to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills and qualifications to contribute to the economic, social, and political development of their country”, said Wong. He noted that New Zealand’s internationally renowned tertiary institutions offer a wide range of highly-valued postgraduate qualifications and encouraged all potential candidates from Myanmar to apply for the NZAS 2016 Selection Round.
The applications for NZAS 2016 to undertake postgraduate study in New Zealand are now open and will close on 15 April 2016 (Paper Applications) and 30 April 2016 (Online Applications). The New Zealand Government is committed to providing opportunities for all and particularly encourages applications from suitably qualified women and provincial candidates.
