The First Coordination Meeting of the e-Government Steering Committee was held at the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Nay Pyi Taw on April 3.

Right from the beginning, the current administration has included e-Government as one of the policy items in its 12-point economic policy presented in July, 2016, said the State Counsellor in her address. The main purpose of the implementation of e-Government is to beneft the people with convenience, modernizing the country so as not to be left behind other countries, she said.
“There are three requirements of skills, investment and cooperation for e-Government to be implemented speedily and to make progress. Of the three, cooperation is the frst thing that can be done immediately. If there is no cooperation between government departments and state and regional governments, the e-Government will not come about. The aim of e-Government can be achieved only with cooperation,” the State Counsellor continued. Also present at the meeting was Vice President Myint Swe, who is the Chair of the e-Government Steering Committee. Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government Thaung Tun, who is the Vice-Chair (1) of the committee and Union Minister for Transport and Communications Thant Sin Maung, who is the Vice-Chair (2) of the committee explained extensively about e-Government work processes.
