Damco Opens New Logistics Center in Myanmar

On November 12, a joint venture between Damco,a global freight forwarding and supply chain management service, and local construction company Star Light Group has opened a new logistics center. The center is going to provide customers with access to a number of essential services including: inventory management, order processing, RF scanning and bar coding. It also offers value-added services such as crossborder and inland trucking. Moreover, it primarily support the sourcing operations of fashion as well as retail customers located in the region.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Guest of Honor, H.E Peter Lysholt Hansen – Ambassador of Denmark to Myanmar, as well as distinguished customers, business partners, senior management and staff. Marco Civardi, Area Managing Director of Damco Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar commented, “The opening of the new Damco Myanmar Logistics Center means that we will be able to provide more comprehensive supply chain solutions.” Marco continues, “As a warehousing distribution hub, this new facility marks a significant step forward in better helping our customers to stay ahead in their respective markets.” Located close to the emerging industrial zones, Tillawa economic zone (MITT) and city ports, the warehouse offers a total combined space of 10,000 square meters. Built to C-TPAT standards, the warehouse provides modern safety, security and fire-fighting standards making it well-positioned to support increased volumes in the region.

Samuel Conroy, Country Manager of Damco Myanmar remarked “We are proud of this major investment Damco has made in the Myanmar Logistics sector. I would like to thank the Damco team and our partner Starlight for this fantastic achievement.” Damco Myanmar was established and open office in Yangon after acquiring an operating license in 2013. Since that time, Damco has invested significantly in state-of-the-art Warehouse Management Systems and Processes to raise productivity, increase efficiency, enabling customers to stay ahead in their supply chains.
