With more than 340 booths, 7th SME Trade Promotion and Competition was held for 3 days; November 16- 18, at Myanmar Expo Plaza. The objective is to help MSME enterprises enter international markets.
This 7th micro, small, medium enterprises exhibition and competition was organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Committee. Nearly 350 booths for various sectors including foods, utensils, traditional handicrafts and many others were displayed. The previous MSEMs product exhibitions and competitions were held all around the country; Mandalay, Magway region, Ayeyarwady region, Shan state, Segaing region and Pe Gu region with the purposes of to introduce the new products, sharing information, incorporation of enterprise and developing of the economy.
Mi Mi Kyaw, Assistance Director, Department of Small and Medium Enterprise said “We hope to boost the business cooperation and develop domestic market and exports industry. Over 90% of Myanmar business are SMEs. So we want entrepreneurs to work together to boost the industry. For the competition, we have 11 judges including experts and those from the government and private sector. There are many challenges for the SMEs like access to financial and technology knowhow. Our department gives training to local SMEs.” This three days event also included SMEs educative talks, seminar and knowledge sharing session.
