Yangon Waterboom Opened

February 28 – Yangon Waterboom (“YWB”), Myanmar’s first modern water park, completed its construction and opened in presence of Chief Minister of Yangon Region, Myint Swe along with YCDC’s Chairman and Mayor, Hla Myint and UMG’s top executives. The opening ceremony was held at the water park’s complex at Shu Khin Tar, Thar Kay Ta Township, Yangon.

Dignitaries from local Government, Embassies, United Nations organizations and wellknown figures attended the two-hour inauguration ceremony made a quick rounds of Yangon Waterboom facilities.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of this first world-class waterpark of Myanmar. I am confident that Yangon Waterboom will soon become one of our Country’s sought after recreational destination for both, local and foreign visitors alike. The opening of Yangon Waterboom also signifies that Myanmar is ready to take its hospitality and tourism industry to a whole new level,” said Myint Swe.

YWB began the construction in September 2013 combining local and foreign expertise under the leadership of its initiator and owner, UMG Group of Companies (“UMG”). Kiwi Aliwarga, Chief Executive Officer of UMG, outlined the company motives behind the project, “Recognizing the need to provide more alternatives for family recreational center, UMG initiated a project to build a one-stop international-standard entertainment and water amusement facilities here in Yangon. It has been a long and challenging process for everyone involved but the results are equally rewarding. We are proud to present Yangon Waterboom to the people of Myanmar, and marking another historic milestone of our company.”

Aliwarga also reiterated that the opening of YWB will further strengthened UMG commitment to prosper with nation and expanding its footprint in the waterpark entertainment business.

Santi, General Manager of Yangon Waterboom, said that visitors can expect a fully themed fun-action packed entertainment, “At Yangon Waterboom visitors can choose to test their adrenaline in one of our 20 world-class water attractions such as Boomerango, Tornado, Python, Octopus, Speed Slide, Free Fall and Aqualoop. Young visitors (under 4ft) with their parents can enjoy our Waterhouse, Kiddy pool, Lazy River, Wave pool or simply relaxing at our Family Bungalows.”

Although visitor’s enjoyment is Yangon Waterboom goal but safety always comes first. “We ensure all slides and facilities are tested which include pre dry & wet test, and we have regular maintenance. More over, all of our Lifeguards are given “life savings” training by Myanmar Red Cross to prepare them handling emergency situation including accident, water rescue, and CPR. They are also prepared to help reminding our guests on our Rules & Regulation to ensure their safety and enjoyment,” added Santi. Located in the former Su Khin Tar playground, YWB occupying total 18 acres of land consisting of various waterpark attractions, the Dome and the Club House area, which include Kiddy Land, Beauty Salon, coffee shop, locker, food court and a retail souvenir store. YWB will open for public starting 29 February 2016 with daily operating hours from 9 am until 8 pm. Visitors can enjoy Special Discount on entrance fee until the 26 March 2016: Mon to Fri – 16,000 Ks (Adults) and 12,000 Ks (Child under 4ft) and Sat, Sun, Public Holidays – 20,000 Ks (Adults) and 16,000 Ks (Child under 4ft). 50% discount from regular entrance rate is applied for senior citizens/disabled people/ woman during pregnancy.
