Volvo Cars unveiled the ultra-stylish new Volvo XC40 premium small SUV for the Myanmar market on May 11. Revealed at a press event at Sedona Hotel, Yangon, the new Volvo XC40 will bring a new standard of safety and user experience to the premium small SUV segment. XC40 aims to make the daily urban commute less stressful and more enjoyable, as drivers in the segment can now enjoy the safety, connectivity and infotainment technologies that are a hallmark of Volvo’s acclaimed premium cars and SUVs.
Volvo now has three premium SUVs in its range. In Myanmar, Volvo Cars started its business with Performance Auto International in February 2017. “Since then, more than 70 Volvo vehicles have been delivered, corresponding to more than a 20% share in the Premium car market. We believe Myanmar to be one of fast growing markets in the APAC region” said Hiroshige Ishigure, market area director of Volvo car group for the Asia pacific region.
All Volvo cars in Myanmar come with a 3-year/100, 000 km scheduled servicing and maintenance plan, and a 3-year unlimited vehicle factory warranty from day of delivery. Volvo Cars Myanmar currently offers Sedans, SUVs, Hatchbacks and Wagons, with the range starting at $53, 000, going up to $210, 000. In response to strong market demand, Volvo Cars Myanmar will announce the launch of its next showroom in another city soon. Myanmar Insider recently interviewed with Nway Nway Hlaing, Director of Volvo Cars Myanmar. During the interview, she said Volvo’s market share among luxury vehicles is 20%, with Volvo’s XC90 being the bestselling model. When it comes to the behavior of Myanmar luxury car buyers so far, customers want to buy cars with the full options; they desire to buy cars with the full accessories and a full grade. When asked about why Volvo instead of Mercedes or BMW, she highlighted Volvo being the best safety brand in the world.
