According to the Ministry of Ho- tel and Tourism Myanmar, US$ 13 million have been gained from the country’s special tours in 2014, nearly US$ five million higher than 2013. Profits achieved from river cruises topped on the list with over US$ eight million, followed by ballooning with over US$ four million. The country’s tourism sector has gained profits from these special tour operators,
private jet tours, international cruises and from those entering by yacht from Myeik is- lands and near Thai border, Ya Naung. Hot air ballooning in Bagan, Mandalay and Inle also attract many tourists’ attention. Each ballooning trip costs around US$ 300 per person. Myanmar earned a total of US$ 1.135 billion from the tourism sector in the previous fiscal year.
