Today Ogilvy & Mather Myanmar and The Ogilvy Foundation Team up to Develop Future Marketing Agency Stars

With support form Today Ogilvy & Mather Myanmar and The Ogilvy Foundation, an advertising Basics Workshop was held for 30 students from Yangon University of Economics on August 3-5, 2015

The Ogilvy Foundation help by inviting visiting professors from the School of Communication & Information at Nanyang Technological University Singapore to deliver lectures and conduct workshops on suitable topics and issues for students at the Yangon University of Economics in Myanmar.

According to U Tha Tun Oo, Chairman, TODAY Ogilvy & Mather Myanmar, “At the moment, the marketing communications industry in Myanmar relies heavily on overseas-educated Myanmar repatriates and regional expatriates, as very few marketing degrees are offered in-market and we believe this initiative will help establish the first homegrown generation of marketing communications talent.”

Wee Kim Wee Communication & Communication, led by Associate Professor Dr. May Oo Lwin, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, provided students knowledge on advertising, creativity, branding, integrated marketing communication, social media, public relations and advertising ethics in a three-day workshop.

Associate Professor May O. Lwin, NanyangTechnological University Singapore said, “While I was raised in Singapore, Myanmar is my country of birth and I am very happy to lend my marketing expertise to The Ogilvy Foundation program, contributing to this rapidly evolving industry in Myanmar and This is an ideal platform bring the industry’s best practices to the forefront and take a look at how marketing will impact factors at play in Myanmar’s transition.”

Associate Professor May Oo Lwin is Myanmar-born and has become the member of Ogilvy & Mather Singapore alumni since early 1990. She has co-authored a number of marketing books, including the best-selling Clueless Series (including Clueless in Advertising and Clueless in Marketing Communications) and a leading textbook for Asia, Principles and Effective Integrated Maketing and Communications Practice.

The Ogilvy Foundation, established in 1984 is mainly aim to provide educational grants that promote the Advertising, Marketing, and Communications fields at academic institutions around the world.
