The Lantern Will Satisfy All Your Vietnamese Food Cravings!

A new, high-end Vietnamese restaurant, The Lantern, recently opened on the first floor of Melia Hotel in Yangon. This one-stop place for all types of Vietnamese cuisine is a unique experience that will not disappoint even the pickiest of eaters.

Upon entering, patrons will be greeted by sharply dressed, English-speaking servers. The unique décor was inspired by the ancient Hoi An city; the room is lit by quaint, old fashioned lanterns. The signature items include the cha gio re and goi cuon tom thit for appetizers. The cha gio re is a fried nest of spring roll with shrimp, pork, and taro homemade fish sauce. The goi cuon tom thit is a fresh Vietnamese rice roll with shrimps, pork, and chili dip.

The pho ga ha ngi soup is also recommended. It includes flat rice and noodles with shredded chicken. The guest can also add other toppings such as coriander, bean sprouts, and chili to make it rich in taste.

For the main course, the signature dish is the ch hap la chuoi sea bass dish. It comes steamed in a banana leaf, topped with gravy and ginger, chili, and mushrooms. Very delicious!

If you’re still not full, try the kem roai nuoc cat dua, a tasty dessert. It comeschilled with mango and coconut soup mixed with vanilla ice cream. The sweet taste is incredibly good!

Stop by for lunch on weekdays and enjoy a full set menu, including a starter, main course, and dessert for only $21. Tran Van Chinh, the main chef of The Lantern, has had over 15 years of experience.

“It’s a high-end gourmet restaurant for those craving authentic Vietnamese food as well as fusion food. All staffs are trained in advance to keep the fivestar standard of Melia Hotel.”
