Telenor Myanmar has introduced an additional channel to its subscribers for checking their SIM cards registration status. Telenor customers can check registration status by dialling *979*3*3#.
Telenor has already introduced multiple channels for customers to check their SIM card registration status. Telenor customers may check their SIM registration status by visiting any of Telenor’s branded shops in major cities and towns throughout the country, or by calling Telenor’s Call Center, or via SMS by sending ‘REG’ to “500”.
At present, customers who have yet to register their SIM cards can register at the Telenor’s branded shops in major cities and towns. Over a few weeks customers will be able to register at Telenor’s points-of-sale across the country. Additionally, multiple online self-registration channels will be introduced in order to help customers register via option of their choice.
SIM registration is a requirement mandated by law, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications recently announced that all mobile SIM cards are to be registered by 31st March 2017. To register, subscribers are required to provide a copy of their national registration card (passport for foreigners) or other applicable identity cards, and to fill up a simple customer acquisition form. The process may be completed within minutes, at no charge.
Telenor customers will receive ongoing information on SIM registration in the coming months, through public announcements, social media, and via SMS where related.
