CEO of Prudential Myanmar
Please introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a financial services professional with close to 20 years of experience across various roles in the banking and insurance sectors. I was appointed CEO of Prudential Myanmar in 2019, responsible for overseeing Prudential’s entry into the market and for scaling up the business. I also am an economist, a person passionate about inclusive growth – be it society, industry or the company – a music enthusiast, a budding tennis player and a doting family man.
How did you end up as CEO of Prudential Myanmar?
Prior to taking on my current role, I had held a number of senior management positions at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, a joint venture between Prudential and ICICI Bank in India, since 2005. My assignments provided me with an all-rounded experience across different channels of distribution – from building teams to capture unexplored opportunities, to establishing new businesses lines with large teams.
When the role to lead Prudential’s business in Myanmar was offered to me, I took it up immediately. I was particularly excited by the opportunity to be in Myanmar in a startup environment, and also believed I could leverage my knowledge and experience in driving the growth of our business here.
