The 2nd ASEAN-Myanmar Forum (AMF), hosted by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA), is set to convene in Myanmar for the second time on June 28.
The Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) is a non-profit and independent organisation dedicated to the research, analysis, and discussion of regional and international issues. Founded in 1961, the SIIA is Singapore’s oldest think tank. Through policy research and dialogue, SIIA aims to bridge the gap between policymakers, private sector decision-makers and experts to shape public influence as well as impact policy and social responses. The SIIA is a membership-based organisation and the individual members are admitted from among the most prominent figures in this society who have made a positive contribution to their sector and profession. Corporate members include leading Singaporean and multinational companies with regional businesses. The SIIA is also a founding member of the ASEAN-Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS) network. AMF will be taken place at the Sedona Hotel in Yangon. In a press release, The ASEAN-Myanmar Forum aims to serve as a high level platform for corporate leaders and policy makers to discuss key issues relating to Myanmar’s developments. The SIIA’s first AMF in 2015 brought together more than 200 foreign investors and Myanmar investors and Myanmar investors looking to expand into ASEAN. More than 50 per cent of the participants were made up of foreign business leaders from Asia such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan who were interested to find out more about the direction of Myanmar’s next phase of growth and the development plans of its financial sector.
The agenda will focus on future investments in Myanmar to gain a better understanding of the country’s development plans for Myanmar economy and financial sectors and address major social challenges, uplift communities and create a better future. Discussions will be led by renowned figures from Asia, Myanmar and around the world, including corporate citizenship experts, visionary business leaders, inspiring social entrepreneurs and development agencies who will share vital insights and unique perspectives to attendees.
