SCG Build with Pride 2016

March 21 – SCG hosted its seventh annual SCG build to thank valued partners and customers, demonstrating their commitment to ‘Grow Together’. At the event, SCG reinforced its promise to evolve its business alongside its dealers and customers, as well as, the integration of sustainable development in to all aspects of operations.

Through a diverse product portfolio, the establishment of a showroom and the construction of SCG’s first cement plant in Myanmar, SCG is building a business that supports the rapid development of the country and the dealers and customers they have fostered strong relationships with since entering the market in 1994. Over the past four years, SCG has worked under a “Sustainable Development framework” in Myanmar and countries across the region.

SCG hosted the two day event, 9 and 10 March 2016, at the Hotel Novotel Yangon Max in Yangon for valued contractors, industry representatives, architects and developers to show appreciation for their partnership and encourage them to support Myanmar’s sustainable development. More than 1,400 attendees enjoyed a memorable party, product inspired games and live performances.

“Over past years and looking ahead, we will continue to focus on introducing new products and adapting our product channels to meet customer needs. We bring everyone together at Build with Pride to show our deepest appreciation to our business associates who have accepted SCG as a trusted partner,” said Chana Poomee, Country Director of SCG in Myanmar. As Chana shared at the event, the building materials industry is changing, with increased demand for lightweight partitions, in major cities as well as the surrounding towns, and the use of new products like fiber-cement wood, insulation and lightweight block. While SCG Cement has gained wide acceptance in the market, SCG offers more applications for wall and partition products including SCG Smartboard, a light weight concrete wall system and SCG Smartwood is a fiber-cement wood substitute, offering the beauty of natural wood while also providing superior strength and durability of cement. In addition, SCG insulation, known for its noise reduction benefit is now available in Myanmar.

“SCG strives to be a sustainable business leader in ASEAN and supports the growth of Myanmar, not only with the provision of high-quality products but through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. As we look to build our position as a trusted partner for our customers and launch operations at our green cement plant in Mawlamyine in 2016, we also hope to improve the livelihoods of the Myanmar people through economic, social and environmental development,” he added. SCG has introduced and continues to implement a series of CSR activities for the people Myanmar, such as public health and medical programs, educational support for students and community-building activities. Sharing a Brighter Vision, a mobile cataract surgery program, has given sight back to 200 Mon State citizens in October 2015.

SCG Sharing the Dream, now entering its fifth year, grants 200 high school students in Yangon and Mawlamyine Scholarship covering school fees and supplies for a year.
