Pernod Ricard, the world’s secondlargest wines and spirits company, held a corporate introduction and dinner event at Sedona Hotel to officially introduce the company to Myanmar’s Beverage Industry. Myanmar is the 86th country in which Pernod Ricard has established a direct affiliate.
On May 24, Pernod Ricard announced its joint venture with Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd (Yoma Strategic), Delta Capital Myanmar and Htun Win and Zaw Win (the “Win Brothers”) for the production and distribution of whisky in Myanmar.
Philippe Guettat, Chairman & CEO, Pernod Ricard Asia said, “It is an exciting venture for Pernod Ricard to be one of the first global producers of wine and spirits in Myanmar. We are joining hands with local market leaders to contribute our experience and capabilities to further strengthen our operations and to support Myanmar’s market premiumization. This is also fitting with Pernod Ricard Asia’s strategy to develop its portfolio of international brands for the emerging middle class. Pernod Ricard intends to leverage the Seagram’s brand platform in Myanmar. Since 1857, Seagram’s has been the benchmark for fine whiskies across the world and the Seagram’s name stands for product quality, trust and craftsmanship.”
In the new joint venture company, Pernod Ricard will be taking the lead in managing the production facilities, extensive distribution network and brand portfolio of Access Myanmar Distribution Company Ltd (“AMDC”), the current joint venture between Yoma Strategic, the Win Brothers and Delta Capital Myanmar. This includes access to more than 40, 000 points of sale, 43 major wholesalers in key demand centres, approximately 230 delivery vehicles and around 250 staffs dedicated to sales and marketing as well as the High Class Whisky brand.
