The sessions of both Houses in Myanmar’s national-level legislature Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (the Assembly of the Union) have adjourned after the third regular sessions came to end on December 21. The third regular sessions of both Houses – Pyithu Hluttaw (House of Representatives) and Amyotha Hluttaw (House of Nationalities) – began on November 16 and lasted more than one month. Neither of the Houses disclosed the starting date of upcoming regular sessions.
During the third session, a total of 10 motions including a special one were submitted to the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House), of which 6 proposals were put on record and 4 to be discussed at the next session. Seven out of the 17 bills discussed were approved with 10 others remaining to be passed.
During the third session, legislators in the Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House) debated on the third bill amending the Union Election Law and passed it to the Lower House. In the days of the third regular session, the bill amending the Civil Service Law came into effect with the signing of the President following the endorsement of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, which is now in its second term.
