March 7 – Telenor held its 25th edition of Net Monday at Thahton Computer University, in Mon State. The focus is bridging the knowledge gap between academia and industry through effective use of the internet. Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor Myanmar to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies. More than 500 students and teachers joined the event. At the event, the panelists from Telenor Myanmar, RHC Technologies International Company Limited, Zwenexsys International Company Limited, and the rector of Thahton Computer University discussed how students’ interaction and familiarity with advanced technologies can benefit them, how the mobile internet development can help career development of youth, and how the internet development can enhance the career of youths both in tech and non-tech sectors.
Wint Yi Mon, fourth year computer science student from the university said “This is my first experience joining this kind of event. I have gained lots of knowledge on how can I can become a better person through the use of internet for education and career development,”.
Previous Net Monday events were held in a number of different towns across the country, including Magwe, Mawlamyine, Bago, Hmawbi and Yangon.
