2.Myanmar Car of the Year 2018 The Myanmar Car of the Year (MCOTY) is an internationally-inspired award, judged by a panel of motoring journalists. The award ceremony this year took place at Pullman Yangon Centrepoint on November 7. There were 15 award categories this year, out of which, 14 categories were judge by the esteemed panel of jury members.
The award categories included Hatchback, Compact Sedan, Midsize Sedan, Prestige Sedan, MPV, Crossover, Compact SUV, Mid-size SUV, Prestige Compact SUV, Prestige SUV, Pick Up, Luxury Car, Best Value Car, Car of the Year (Jury’s Choice), and Car of the Year (People’s Choice). The car models have been evaluated through test drives and inspections to take into account of handling, comfort, look and feel, as well as local factors such as maintenance, price and insurance.
The objective of MCOTY is to acclaim the most outstanding cars available in the Myanmar market. The awards event was attended by 3,200 guests and participated by 16 brands. In this year, Peugeot 308 won the Hatchback of the year, Mazda 3 won the Compact Sedan, Chevrolet Malibu won the Midsize Sedan, Jaguar XF (R-Sport) won Prestige Sedan, GAC GM8 won MPV, Mazda CX-3 won Crossover, Mazda CX-5 won Compact SUV, KIA Sorento won Mid-size SVU, Volvo XC60 won Prestige Compact SUV, Volvo XC90 T8(Exc) won Prestige SUV, Ford Ranger won Pick up of the year, Range Rover Autobiography won Luxury Car of the year, Mitsubishi Attrage won Best Value Car, Volvo XC60 won the Car of the Year (Jury’s Choice) and Toyota Rush won Car of the Year (People’s Choice).

‘Luther Law Firm acted as auditor to ensure voting and jury work, and Centurion Auto supported the test drives in advance driver training, Automan for their technical knowhow and Alliance of Auto Manufacture (AAM) supported with their industry knowledge. Myanmar International Radio (MIR) also joined partnership with MCOTY, along with Marbled Black that provided food at the event.
