Myanmar Japan SME Seminar and Business Exchange was jointly held by Department of SMEs development, the Ministry of Industry, UMFCCI, Japan Myanmar Economy and Investment Center on March 19, 2018 in Yangon. Aye Aye Win, Director General, Directorate of Industrial Supervision & Inspection said, “We started the collaboration with Japan since 2012, for the development of Myanmar SME policy and fnance so we received the technical and fnance assistance for the development of SME sector. We are also trying for the policies development and got the loans from JICA. JICA will also provide 150 billion Kyats for the SME sector development and we are reviewing to provide the loans for all SME businesses.”
Noriyuki Yonemura, president of Japan Myanmar Economy & Investment Center said,” SME sector is very weak, small, no power, no access to fnance so we are arranging business matching like this. The most important thing is to disclose the information about y0ur company’s management, employment, product and quality with the exact fgures. Myanmar needs to do development step by step.” Ye Myint Maung, Executive Committee Member of UMFCCI said,” For the development of SME industry, we require the organizations which can provide the fnancial assistance for all the SMEs. Then, we defnitely need the infrastructure development and need to protect the illegal trade. So, the fnancial support is the main requirements for all industry development in the country.” Businessmen from plastics industry, agricultural industry, plumbing industry, vehicle spare parts, industrial products, construction products, home decoration businesses, event organizers, human resource development training schools and financial corporations participated in the event. 27 Japanese businessmen and more than a hundred Myanmar businessmen, offcials from the Ministry and UMFCCI also attended the Seminar and Business Exchange.
