MAI’s Eighth Airbus, “PyinOoLwin”, Arrive

Myanmar International Airlines (MAI) has announced the arrival of its eighth Airbus, named “PyinO-oLwin”. The new aircraft arrived at Yangon International Airport on August 10 and was welcomed with a traditional water sprinkling cer-emony.

MAI’s fleet has now reached 15 aircraft, including the new Airbus A319. MAI, the flag carrier of Myan-mar, is based at Yangon and Man-dalay International Airports and operates flights to 41 cities within the country and around the region. Prior to this, on June 23, the sev-enth Airbus A319, named “Bagan”, arrived in Yangon as part of the expansion of MAI’s flight network.The aircraft will not only improve passenger capacity in anticipation of the upcoming tourist season, but also allow for faster expansion of key regional routes.

MAI has been dominating in the regional routes in and out of Myan-mar. It flies the most number of flights weekly to destinations such as Bangkok, Singapore, etc., and it is the monopoly for some routes to cities such as Vientiane, Delhi, Kol-kata, etc. The airline is also planning to increase the number of flights for Yangon – Hanoi, Yangon/ Mandalay – Chiang Mai, Yangon – Da Nang, Yangon – Kolkata, Yangon – Chen-nai and Yangon – Guangzhou routes starting at the end of October.
