KFC revealed the venue for its first outlet in Yangon

The franchiser of KFC in Myanmar, Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd has announced the location of the very first KFC branch in Myanmar. This Yangon branch will be at IMA Building, No. 375, Bogyoke Aung San Road – just across one of the top tourist attractions in the town, Bogyoke Market in Pabedan Township. Still the launch date is yet to be revealed. Yoma Strategic is also planning to open several more KFC outlets by the end of this year, according to our sources, and trying to po- sition as a major player in the country’s F&B sector.

The Head of Business Development, JR Ching of Yoma Strategic said, “Our first restaurant in the heart of downtown Yangon will enable us to introduce KFC’s famous Original Recipe Chicken to the diverse mix of people who live and work in the area”, he then continued, “Our hope is for KFC to become a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown and a place where people can connect and bond.”

With a global sale of USD 23 billion, one of the world’s largest chain restaurants KFC has more than 19,400 outlets in 120 countries worldwide and has become the first major American fast-food chain restaurants established in Myanmar. Its mother company Yum! Brands occupy more than 125 markets with over 41,000 restaurants with more than 15,000 ones in emerging markets like Myanmar. In 2014, Yum! Brands opened 2,030 new restaurants outside the United States and 80 percent of them in emerging markets. Yum! Brands is operating with 57 restaurants per million people in the United States and only two per million people in ten emerging markets. With revenues of over USD 13 billion, Yum! Brands ranked 216th on the Fortune 500 List and its international brands include KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
