Ippudo, a Japanese ramen restaurant chain, will soon be coming to Myanmar. The opening is scheduled for early next year.
The restaurants will be operated by Singapore-Myanmar Investco (SMI), an investment and management company, who obtained the operating license from the Japanese owned Chikaranomoto Company. Currently, Ippudo has more than 60 franchises worldwide and can be found in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Australia and China.
SMI has stated that this is the ideal time to introduce Ippudo to Myanmar as they see abundant growth opportunities.
“The time is ripe for us to introduce the popular Ippudo brand and cuisine to a growing middle class in Myanmar,” says SMI president and chief executive Mark Bedingham. Founded in 1985 with initial installment in Japanese city of Fukuoka, Ippudo then expanded to other areas of Japan over time until it covers the whole country. It now has 90 establishments in Japan alone.
