France-Myanmar Business Forum held in Yangon

First edition of the France-Myanmar Business Forum was held on 20th November at the Kandawgyi Palace Hotel, in Yangon. It was attended by H.E. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at Plenary Session.

France-Myanmar Business Forum was or- ganized by the office of the French Trade Commission (UBIFRANCE) of the French Embassy in Myanmar and the France-Myan- mar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FMCCI).

The morning sessions included a briefing about Myanmar economy by Dominique Causse, Head of the Economic Service of French Embassy in Myanmar. Simultane- ously, a workshop on international aid and international development partner activi- ties in Myanmar were also organized. Mem- bers of the Trade Delegation chose to partic- ipate in either of the two workshops.

The afternoon session was about B2B meet- ings where French companies were able to meet and discuss with Myanmar counter- parts.

This affair brought together a trade delega- tion of 18 French companies from various sectors of construction, railway industry, cosmetics and perfumes, healthcare, power, etc and major stakeholders from the private sector in Myanmar.

Sites visits to Star City and Thilawa, where French company Lafarge’s Cement plant is located, were organized for the Trade Dele- gation on 21st November.
