Ford’s Addition of Small Cars Means Big Things for Myanmar

YANGON, Myanmar, November 10, 2014 – Ford and local part- ner Capital Automotive today announced the addition of three new passenger cars to the Ford portfolio in Myanmar with the arrival of three of the company’s best-selling global name- plates – the EcoSport, Focus and Fiesta.

The global Ford vehicles will significantly expand the current Myanmar showroom lineup, adding even more ways for con- sumers to connect with the Ford brand.

“The expansion of our strong portfolio with these new Ford passenger cars of- fers savy Myanmar customers a fantastic choice of style, performance and val- ue, and delivers on our commitment to bring the very best of our global portfolio of cars, trucks and SUVs to Myanmar,” explained David Westerman, managing director, Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

Ford will be holding a ‘Small Cars Launch’ on Friday, December 12 at 5:00pm at their showroom in Hlaing Township, on Insein Road. Pre-orders for all three ve- hicles are now open.

With the addition of these global name- plates, Ford’s showroom will be the most comprehensive in Myanmar. Ford is also one of the only automotive brands to of- fer a full 3S facility that includes a parts and service center for after-sales support.

EcoSport

The Ford EcoSport is a compact urban SUV that is well suited to the roads of Mandalay and Yangon, offering all the best qualities of an SUV, such as a high driving position, ground clearance and water-wading capa- bility, coupled with the maneuverability and convenience of a small car.

True to its urban character, it will include advanced technology such as SYNC, Ford’s voice-activated in-car connectivity sys- tem that lets drivers make phone calls and control their in-car entertainment system hands-free, using voice commands.

Big on safety, the EcoSport is equipped with side airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and electronic stability control, and has enough space in the trunk to fit a wash- ing machine.

Focus

One of the most anticipated local arrivals to the showroom, the Ford Focus is also the world’s best-selling nameplate, and com- bines dynamic craftsmanship with an im- pressive array of smart technologies.

One of the features of the Focus that will be most helpful in Yangon is EcoMode, which constantly evaluates how economically the car is being driven, meaning drivers can adapt their habits to save money on fuel.

In terms of safety, there is Emergency Brake Assist, which enables maximum braking pressure in emergency situations, and com- bined with Ford’s electronic stability pro- gram (ESP) and ABS, gives drivers control when they need it most. And for Myanmar’s rainy season, the Focus has wipers that sense precipitation and activate automati- cally.

The new Ford Fiesta features a new look, feel, and technology to keep drivers con- nected. Ford’s aim with the new Fiesta was to take a popular car that was already a seg- ment leader in fuel efficiency, performance, and personality, and make it even better.

The addition of these three vehicles reflects Ford’s commitment to bringing safe, tech- nologically advanced, and powerful vehicles to this market.
