EU Ambassador Roland Kobia went on a bicycle guard with the local po- lice on 14th November in Mingalar
Taung Nyunt Township in Yangon.
While guarding, Ambassador Kobia talked to locals about police reform which pro- motes a modern police force that observes international standards on human rights, freedoms and a service culture to citizens.
He also visited three wards and met with ward officials and community representa- tives to learn about their grassroots activi-
ties. The ward officials informed him the ongoing work at ward level and thanked him for the changes in policing style.
The purpose was to meet the population and discuss with them about the usefulness of the reform of the Police Forces.
Throughout the visit he was accompanied by EU project staff and MPF police who have been recently trained in the methods of community policing. This EU project has the support from both the Government and NLD.
