Due to complaints about a defective battery, Samsung has canceled their global launch of the Galaxy Note7 originally planned for September 11.
“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue, and sorrowfully had to cancel our consumer launch plan set on September 11”, says Samsung through the official statement
According to the statement, there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally as of September 1 and they are currently conducting a thorough inspection with their suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, Samsung also stated that they have stopped the sales of Galaxy Note7 for the safety of their customers.
The statement also said that for customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, they will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.
