Danish international company, Carlsberg Group officially introduced its global beer brand Carslberg and Turborg in partnership with Myanmar Golden Star (MGS)’s MGS Breweries on 7th May 2015 and has established the first international brewery in Myanmar. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister of Bago, U Nyan Win and the Danish Ambassador to Myanmar, Peter Lysholt Hansen and its partner Myanmar Golden Star (MGS), government officials, senior executives of Carlsberg Group, Myanmar Carlsberg management team and approximately 250 guests.
Carlsberg representatives announced to help Myanmar build a sustainable economic, social and environmental future at the event and Mr. Soren Ravn, Carlsberg Regional CEO, Development Markets said “We have a long-standing tradition in corporate social responsibility (CSR). From the beginning, our founder embraced a firm commitment to enhance the quality of beer while making significant contributions to the economic and social development of society,” he continued, “Building on this heritage, Carlsberg continues to integrate CSR into the way it does business at both a global and local level. Our aim is to share our expertise and international standards, and to nurture Myanmar talent, while creating future business opportunities.”

Carlsberg Myanmar also emphasized their commitment to “Growing Responsibly Together” during their celebration by ex- plaining that the Bago will minimize its environmental footprint by means of focusing on reducing energy, water usage and CO2 emissions and the utilizing energy – efficient technology will be applied in Carlsberg Brewery. They also informed that Carlsberg has invested in one of the best wastewater treatment systems in the industry
This recently established brewery will be managed by a group of skillful staff from Carlsberg Group and some local experts. Carlsberg informed that quality water and rice, essential ingredients in brewing, will be supplied from local, Bago Region. And other important raw materials such as malt and hops will be imported. Carlsberg’s flagship fresh and modern brand “Tuborg” that is dedicated to a younger generation with its lighter taste and is available in more than 70 countries will also be produced from the brewery as well as the local brand “YOMA”.
Carlsberg Myanmar has employed about 150 staff and is planning to provide with thousands of employment countrywide. Danish Company Carlsberg Group has over 46,000 staff working for the Group with its products available in more than 150 markets. The Group has sold 122 million hectoliters of beer in 2014, equal to 37 billion bottles of beer. Their local partner MGS Breweries is a subsidiary of Myanmar Golden Star (MGS) Company Limited operating diverse businesses in F&B sector, telecommunications, consumer electronics, hotel and retails sector, financial, medical, agri- cultural, media and mining services.
