Myanmar National Airlines Signed Distribution Agreement

To make airline’s fares and inventory available to more than 100,000 travel agents in the Asia Pacific region, Myanmar National Airlines has signed a comprehensive distribution agreement with technology provider, Sabre Corporation. Myanmar National Airlines, which re-branded from Myanma Airways last year, has announced ambitious expansions plans in recent months. In August, it opened a direct flight between Yangon and Singapore and has said that it plans to expand to other Southeast Asian destinations in the future.

Jardine Lloyd Thompson Opens Office in Myanmar

The British insurance firm, Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) held an event to launch its Myanmar representative office on September 12 at the Novotel Hotel in Yangon. Before starting operations, the company will do market research and offer corporate social responsibility services. JLT gave reinsurance to Myanmar Insurance Enterprise a long time ago and left the country when US sanc- tions on Myanmar began. There are about twenty foreign representative offices in Myanmar currently but they are not allowed to offer insurance services yet but they can do market research and corporate social responsibility services. Jardine Insurance Brokers was formed by Hong Kong-based conglomerate Jardine Matheson. The firm became JLT in 1997 after the merger with Lloyd Thompson Group, though Jardine Matheson retains a 40 percent stake in the business.

Shell Starts Exploration

United State Based subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, Shell oil company will start offshore survey in October. Mr Grame Smith, Vice President for Exploration Asia and Australia at Shell International company said officially to media at opening ceremony of its Yangon office. Japan based Mitsui Oil Exploration Co.,Ltd company will be a partner for operating three offshore deep-water blocks and Mistsui Oil Exploration Co.,Ltd (MOECO) will assume a 10% participating interest in each block. On 5th February 2015, Shell and its partner Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. Ltd. group (MOECO) signed three exploration and production sharing contracts (PSCs) with Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to operate three offshore deep-water blocks after winning the tender . With the PSC approved, Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) is expected to receive $ 61 million signature bonus and a US $300,000 data fees for the three blocks.
