Aung La N Sang Faces off with Alain Ngalani in Yangon

ONE Championship has recently announced the main event for ONE: HERO’S DREAM set for November 3 at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. Headlining the card will be reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion “Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, who will take on heavyweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion, Alain “The Panther” Ngalani who made history at ONE: TOTAL VICTORY on Saturday, September 16. In front of a packed crowd at the Jakarta Convention Center, he recorded the fastest knockout ever in ONE Championship’s heavyweight division, as he flattened former world title challenger Hideki “Shrek” Sekine in a record-setting 11 seconds. It was recorded as the fastest knockout in ONE heavyweight history. With the 11-second knockout, Ngalani improves to 4-3 (1 No Contest), and suddenly emerges as a potential opponent for ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera.

Aung La N Sang was last seen in the ONE Championship cage this past June, when he toppled previously-unbeaten titleholder Vitaly Bigdash of Russia to capture the ONE Middleweight World Championship. With the win, Aung La N Sang became Myanmar’s foremost sporting icon in history, having captured the country’s first-ever world championship. What immediately stands out about this contest is the size difference between the two athletes. Aung La N Sang, who is the promotion’s middleweight titleholder, competes at the 93kilograms limit, while Ngalani, a resident of Hong Kong originally from Cameroon, usually campaigns in ONE’s heavyweight division, which has a 120.2kilograms limit. Although Aung La N Sang’s middleweight title will not be at stake, this is simply a chance for both the fittest athletes to prove who is the better martial artist overall, and to put on an electrifying show in Yangon.
