A Closer Look at the Myanmar Centre

The largest Vietnamese investment in Myanmar, Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s (HAGL) Myanmar Centre complex, is set to open in phases over the course of this year and promises to be the largest and more luxurious mixed-use development in the city, and possibly the country.

The $440 million project in Yangon represents the tremendous time, energy and financial commitments to Myanmar and providing some of the first truly cosmopolitan experiences to the local people.

Meeting the Demands of Modern Myanmar

Strategically located on the banks of Inya Lake at the heart of New Yangon, the mixed-use Myanmar Centre caters to the strong demand for contemporary residential, office, retail and hospitality properties in the region’s most vibrant emerging market.

Phase 1, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2015, features three key developments:

Myanmar Centre Tower – Office

The 22-storey, Grade A Office Towers will meet the demands of international and local companies by offering a variety of sizes and floor plans under international management standard consulted by CBRE. As part of an integrated development, the companies located at the Tower will be able to provide their employees with modern and professional working spaces, a range of food and beverage options. With

easy access to downtown, Yangon International Airport and government offices as well as embassies, the Myanmar Centre Tower will become the place to do business in Yangon. Myanmar Plaza – Retail

Intelligently designed and managed retail spaces will benefit from the foot traffic from the offices, hotel and residences in addition to becoming a destination for shoppers in its own right. Comprised of five stories of spaces designed to meet the needs of international brands, hypermarkets, department stores, as well as local and international food and beverage outlets, Myanmar Plaza aims to take the retail experience in Yangon to new heights.

Melia Yangon Hotel – Hospitality

To be managed by the renowned Spanish company Melia Hotels International, the five-star hotel will offer guests the quality and level of services, which they expect. Modern meeting rooms, conference facilities and restaurants will exceed international standards. The hotel’s prime location with Shwedagon Pagoda and natural Inya Lake views will no doubt quickly become one of the top spots for business travelers and tourists visiting Yangon.

Phase 2, slated to open by the end 2017, will see the launch of two new Grade A office towers, plus two service apartment blocks.

The Lake Suites – Residences

The centerpiece of the project will be the residential development called The Lake Suites. Designed to be an idyllic haven in the center of the city, the three towers of The Lake Suites will offer individuals and families alike a tranquil place to live, all with the convenience of being close to it all: the shops, services, and restaurants of the Myanmar Centre Complex, and downtown and the airport both nearby. Located in one of Yangon’s most upscale neighborhoods and featuring panoramic views of Inya Lake and the city, The Lake Suites is poised to become the city’s premier address for living – it will allow residents to enjoy the luxury of everything in one place.

“Myanmar Centre embodies the optimism, drive and opportunity that abounds in Yangon and Myanmar as a whole,” said Mr. Cao, HAGL Managing Director. “HAGL is proud to be leading the way in bringing Myanmar this luxurious, international and cosmopolitan experience.”
