Since the first launch in 2015, Myanmar Insight Seminar will be celebrating its fourth year at Centara Grand Hotel, CentralWorld, Bangkok on August 23. The concept of the seminar is initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy of Yangon in collaboration with Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) with the purpose of promoting and encouraging trade and investment between Thailand and Myanmar and establishing the economic cooperation to next level.
At the press conference of Myanmar Insight Seminar taken place at Royal Thai Embassy of Yangon, H.E Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar remarked “the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon and the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) have consistently worked together to update the Thai business community on Myanmar’s economic developments and opportunities for trade and investment with a view to strengthening the Thai-Myanmar Natural Strategic Partnership.”
Thailand investments in Myanmar has reached up to $11 billion as of June 2019, showing as fourth largest investor after Singapore, China and Hong Kong based on the data by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC). Total trade between Myanmar and Thailand recorded at $7.64 billion, up by 12.58% from the previous year. The previous seminars have successfully been organized with over 600 Thai businesspeople attended. Mr. Nattawin Phongsphetrarat, Vice President of TBAM said “I am confident this year seminar will attract more Thai investors to Myanmar covering the topics: Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan, Project Bank, the opportunities in retail and wholesale sector, the opportunities in expanding the manufacturing to Myanmar, the updates in Myanmar tax reform and monetary policy,” at the press conference.
H.E Mr. Thaung Tun, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations will address on “Investment Opportunities in Myanmar for Thai investor” at the 4th edition of Myanmar Insight.
